A very unique notebook , the cover being made from woven rolls of recycled newspaper . A bamboo rod reinforces the side of the notebook and there is a bamboo button so the notebook can be secured with a looped thread. There are approx. 50 pages of handmade paper in the notebook.

Women artisans of Biborton Handmade Paper Project live beside a waterway in the scenic village of Agailjhara, Bangladesh. These local waterways are clogged with water hyacinth, but these women use this plant to create beautiful paper. This creative use of an invasive flower not only helps to open the waterways but it also provides a sustainable income for the artisans.
Purchased through Prokritee, a fair trade organization ,( meaning “nature” in Bangladesh), that provides managerial, product design , development and marketing assistance to 8 producer groups/ enterprises in Bangladesh. Prokritee and its 8 enterprises provides jobs for poor rural women. The women who work for the enterprises are widows, divorcees or head of households with little or no income. By providing jobs for women, , Prokritee is able to improve the women’s standard of living and help them send their children to school.
